QuickTime to DivX Requires Windows Media Player If you own the QuickTime movie codec and want to share your movie with others who do not, you can easily convert the format to the DivX MPEG-4 format. 1. If the file extension of your source is not MOV or QT rename it to use one of those extensions so that Fx MPEG Writer will recognize the format.
2. Load the source movie as your Movie in. It may take some time for the program to read your source file and display the first frame in the preview window. Load speed is resource dependent.
If you get an Unsupported File Type message it means that you don't have a read/write version of the appropriate QuickTime codec.
3. Set the Target movie path with the extension as AVI.
If you wish you can set the options to rename to DivX after conversion is complete.
4. Make any changes you want to the Output File properties.
Be sure that the Video Format drop-down is set to AVI.
When the file is loaded click start to poll your system for a list of installed codecs.
Select DivX from the list of installed codecs.
If you don't see the DivX codec you can get it from DivX.com. The below interface is the DivX Pro version 4.6. Your codec may be different.
For specific DivX codec instructions visit DivX.com.

After clicking the OK button on the codec property page and on the codec selection window encoding will begin. The below movie demonstrates the entire process, click-by-click. If you cannot see a movie below, click the Play Movie button to view a Windows Media Movie in a new window that demonstrates how to convert a QuickTime movie to DivX 6.
Right click on the button and select "save as..." to download.
